A tropical melting pot
1. Description and Main Aims
This course is designed to support educators in integrating diversity into their classrooms and building inclusive practices that celebrate differences while fostering unity.
In today’s schools, teachers often face the challenges of managing diverse classrooms where learners may differ in terms of language, culture, background, and learning needs. Reunion Island provides a truly unique case study: a multicultural society where diverse ethnic groups have found ways to live together harmoniously.
Through this training, participants will:
Reflect on diversity in education and the challenges it poses.
Discover the particularities of Reunion Island’s harmonious coexistence and understand the social, historical, and cultural factors behind it.
Explore strategies for managing diversity in classrooms at different educational levels.
Gain inspiration from Reunion’s model as a successful multicultural melting pot, and reflect on how its lessons can be adapted to European classrooms.
The ultimate goal is to equip participants with practical tools, intercultural understanding, and reflective skills to better manage diversity and promote inclusion in their schools and organizations.
